► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is an exceptionally collectible vintage Seiko 5 Sports Speedtimer UFO 6138-0011 men’s automatic chronograph sports watch, produced for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM) during the 1970s. Commonly known among collectors as the “UFO,” the 6138-0011 is one of Seiko’s most recognizable automatic chronographs from the era, featuring its distinctive oversized design, dual-register chronograph layout, tachymeter scale, and Seiko’s renowned 6138 automatic chronograph movement.
This is the Japanese domestic variant, featuring the highly desirable Seiko 5 Sports Speedtimer designation on the dial along with a Japanese/English day display.
The watch is in full working condition and running and holding accurate time over a 24-hour period. The chronograph is fully functional and resets correctly to its proper positions.
As with any nearly 60-year-old chronograph with an unknown service history, the buyer should understand the vintage nature of the watch. While the chronograph was observed functioning properly, these movements contain delicate components that can become damaged or misaligned through excessive use, misuse, or lack of servicing. If absolute perfect operation is desired, I would recommend having the watch serviced.
All parts of the watch are original, including the original Seiko 5 Sports stainless steel bracelet and signed clasp.
The watch also comes with a genuine vintage Seiko presentation box. I am unsure whether this particular box was originally sold with this watch, so it is being described only as a genuine vintage Seiko box rather than as the watch’s original box.
The watch is in fantastic vintage physical condition with visible signs of use and age. The photos best describe its overall appearance and physical condition and should be reviewed carefully.
