Up for sale is a rare vintage Seiko Unique 14005 men’s 15-jewel manual wind dress watch, produced for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM) during the 1950s. The Seiko Unique is an early and collectible Seiko model from the postwar era, featuring classic mid-century Japanese styling and a Seikosha 15-jewel manual wind movement. The watch is in full working condition and is running and holding accurate time over a 24-hour period. The watch features a very special commemorative engraving on the case back from the Japanese National Railways (JNR), which translates to “Commemorating an award for long years of service” and “Japanese National Railways.” This engraving adds an especially interesting piece of Japanese history and provenance to the watch, indicating that it was presented in recognition of an employee’s long service with Japan’s national railway system.
