► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is a rare vintage Casio Casiotron S-16 men’s digital sports watch, produced for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM) during the 1970s. The Casiotron line represents Casio’s earliest digital watch technology, and the S-16 is considered one of the more advanced Tron-era models. The watch has an issue with the pushers. The top right pusher and bottom left pusher can get stuck in the case when pressed and may not engage the module once stuck. At times the buttons do engage the module, and when they do, the watch is in full working condition and all features and functions operate properly. Some sort of pusher maintenance will likely be required in order for the watch to function consistently. The watch is fitted on a genuine Casio stainless steel bracelet, though it is unknown if it is original to the watch. All other parts of the watch appear to be original, including the stainless steel case. The watch has signs of use and age, and the photos best describe its physical condition. Key Details: • Brand: Casio • Line: Casiotron • Model: S-16 • Era: 1970s • Display: Digital • Case Material: Stainless steel • Bracelet: Genuine Casio stainless steel bracelet (originality unknown) • Origin: Japan Domestic Market (JDM) • Condition: Intermittent functionality due to sticking pushers; when engaged, fully working; signs of use and age — photos best describe its physical condition A hard-to-find early Casio digital model and a good candidate for service or restoration. Ships carefully. Feel free to message me with any questions.

► ARCHIVE FILE: CASIO — BRAND HISTORY

Casio began not with watches but with calculation. Tadao Kashio founded Kashio Seisakujo in Tokyo in 1946, and with his three brothers developed the 14-A in 1957, the world's first compact all-electric relay calculator, incorporating the business as Casio Computer Co. that same year. The move into watchmaking came in November 1974 with the Casiotron, a digital watch whose claim to fame was an automatic calendar that knew how many days each month had, a small feat of logic that announced how an electronics firm would approach timekeeping.
