► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is a rare vintage Citizen Crystal Seven Custom 23 Jewel automatic men’s dress sports watch, produced for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM) in the 1970s. The Crystal Seven series is highly regarded among collectors for its dependable automatic movements, distinctive case designs, and classic styling. This example features a striking black dial with applied silver-tone hour markers that give the watch a clean and timeless appearance. The watch is in full working condition and is running and holding accurate time over a 24 hour period. The watch is fitted with a genuine Citizen stainless steel bracelet. While I am unsure if the bracelet is original to the watch, it matches the watch perfectly and complements its vintage design. All other parts of the watch are original. The watch is in very good vintage physical condition with signs of use and age. The photos best describe its overall appearance and physical condition. ► ARCHIVE FILE: CITIZEN — BRAND HISTORY

Citizen traces to the Shokosha Watch Research Institute, founded in Tokyo in 1918. Its first product, a pocket watch completed in 1924, was christened CITIZEN, a name encouraged by Tokyo mayor Shinpei Goto in the hope that the watch would be close to the hearts of ordinary people. Citizen Watch Co. was formally established in 1930, and through the postwar decades it grew into one of the two pillars of Japanese watchmaking alongside Seiko, eventually ranking among the largest watch producers in the world.
