► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is a rare vintage Seiko Silver Wave A259-5090 men’s digital sports watch, produced in the 1970s for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM). This model is part of Seiko’s early Silver Wave digital lineup and features a classic LCD display with the bold design language that defined Seiko’s pioneering digital era. The watch is being sold for parts or repair. The screen appears to be on but frozen. Each time a battery is inserted the display comes on, however it does not respond or change. Due to this it is unclear what the exact issue is or whether the watch can be repaired, and it is being sold as is. The watch comes fitted on an aftermarket stainless steel bracelet. The watch also includes its original very rare Seiko instruction manual. The watch shows signs of use and age consistent with a vintage digital watch from this era. The photos best describe its physical condition and should be reviewed carefully prior to purchase. ► ARCHIVE FILE: SEIKO — BRAND HISTORY

Seiko begins with Kintaro Hattori, who opened a shop selling and repairing clocks in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1881, at the age of twenty-one. He founded the Seikosha factory in 1892 to manufacture wall clocks, built Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel, in 1913, and put the Seiko name on a dial for the first time in 1924. By mid-century his successors ran one of the most vertically integrated watch companies on earth, making everything from hairsprings to cases under its own roof.
