Up for sale is a rare vintage Seiko digital chronograph wristwatch, model A029-5000, a Japan Domestic Market (JDM) release from the 1970s. This early Seiko digital represents the brand’s pioneering quartz era, featuring a bold display layout and classic late-1970s design that has become highly collectible among vintage Seiko enthusiasts. Please note: this watch is being sold for parts and repair. One of the side pushers is not engaging the module, and the underlying issue has not been diagnosed, so it is unknown if it can be repaired. Aside from the side pusher not engaging the module, all other features and functions appear to be working properly. The watch is fitted with an aftermarket stainless steel bracelet. Seiko begins with Kintaro Hattori, who opened a shop selling and repairing clocks in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1881, at the age of twenty-one. He founded the Seikosha factory in 1892 to manufacture wall clocks, built Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel, in 1913, and put the Seiko name on a dial for the first time in 1924. By mid-century his successors ran one of the most vertically integrated watch companies on earth, making everything from hairsprings to cases under its own roof.
