► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is a rare vintage Seiko Calculator Alarm C359-5000 men’s digital watch, produced for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM) in the 1970s. This highly collectible model showcases Seiko’s early digital innovation and features a built-in calculator keypad design from the golden era of Japanese digital watchmaking. Some of the keypad buttons do not seem to properly engage the calculator functions. I believe this may potentially be corrected through adjustment or cleaning, though this has not been attempted and will be left to the buyer. Beyond this issue all other features and functions of the watch are operating properly. All parts of the watch are original including the original Seiko stainless steel bracelet. The watch shows signs of use and age throughout. The photos best describe its physical condition and should be reviewed carefully. The watch comes in a genuine Seiko box although the box is not original to this specific watch. A very desirable early Seiko calculator model and a great addition for collectors of vintage Japanese digital watches. ► ARCHIVE FILE: SEIKO — BRAND HISTORY

Seiko begins with Kintaro Hattori, who opened a shop selling and repairing clocks in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1881, at the age of twenty-one. He founded the Seikosha factory in 1892 to manufacture wall clocks, built Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel, in 1913, and put the Seiko name on a dial for the first time in 1924. By mid-century his successors ran one of the most vertically integrated watch companies on earth, making everything from hairsprings to cases under its own roof.
